Most of our wines are capable of being drunk immediately and tasting fantastic, others take time to develop before they reach their full potential. These are some full bodied wines that will benefit from a few years ageing to soften the wine and allow it to mellow and bring out the full flavours and characteristics that will make them fantastic wines.
- El Bugader 2003. This wine is a Syrah, Garnacha, Cabernet blend that has spent 14 months in new oak. It is wonderfully big and complex. £27 per bottle.
Estimated drinking 2008 onwards.
- Quinta do Cotto Grand Escolha 2000. This deep, dark, rich and dense wine has lovely berry characteristics but needs 5 years to soften. £28.75 per bottle.
Estimated drinking 2009 onwards.
- Finca Dofi 2004. 2004 was a fantastic vintage in Priorat, scents of toast and smoke, minerals, violets, blueberries and chocolate emerge. Full bodied and harmonious. Robert Parker 95/100-.
- Les Terrasses 2004. Smoke, spice and black cherry liqueur balanced by hints of toasted brioche, silky rich tannins, tobacco and mineral notes. Can be drunk now but has the power to age well. £18.
- Vega Sicilia Unico 1994. Intense cherry red with ruby streaks. Powerful and rich nose. Full on the palate with hints of tobacco, menthol, cocoa and coffee. Excellent ageing potetial.
