Shipper and merchant of quality Spanish, Portuguese and South American wines in the UK - both to the trade and mail order retail customers Laymont & Shaw was founded in 1973 at the home of the chairman, John Hawes a keen wine enthusiast.
He recognised a gap in the UK market for top quality Rioja and began importing the now highly regarded wines from La Rioja Alta S.A.
In 1981, the company relocated to its present base, The Old Chapel, set behind the magnificent Truro Cathedral. Since then, the small, dedicated team has successfully built up a comprehensive portfolio containing only the very best wines from Spain and excellent examples from Portugal and South America.
Winners of the International Wine Challenge Spanish Specialist of the Year in 1992, 1995, 1997, our Silver Jubilee Year 1998, 1999 and again in 2001, we are delighted to share with you a selection of our award winning wines.
Customers range from large supermarkets and other multi-outlet retailers, hotels, restaurants and private mail order customers.
